I won an entry into the race from Running on Candy.
This weekend was amazing!!
Run with the Amish in Adams County Ohio. Fundraiser for the local amish schools.
Pre race information was very specific. Videos of the course. The race director even put her personal phone number on face book in case anyone got lost or had questions.
Packet pickup was easy to find, and very well organized!
In and out in 5 minutes. Then we walked to the Millers Bakery! I bought two peanut butter cookies with peanut butter icing slathered between the cookies. The smell of fresh baked bread was mouth watering!
After packet pick up we drove 3 miles down the road to the Amish bbq and auction. The best grilled chicken ever!!
And homemade pies. More than 10 varieties to choose from! I had pecan. And some homemade ice cream.
We didnt stay for the auction. I think my husband was afraid Id spend to much money.
We stayed at the Hampton Inn in Mayesville Kentucky. SOFT pillows and comfy bed! Friday and Microwave, and real eggs for the continental breakfast!!!
Goody bag was packed. Also had a tech shirt.
There were water tables every mile. They was stocked with water, gatorade, apples, some had gummies and oranges. Some had themes, and all were very supportive.
The portapotty was even decorated!
We were in Amish country so we had to watch for "Road Apples"
There were awards for 5K run and 5K walk. Half marathon run and half marathon walk. Full Marathon run, and full marathon walk. And the awards went three deep in every age group. And the age groups were 5 years, not the average 10.
My husband placed 2nd in his age group for the 5K walk.
My daughter hurt her foot and had major shin splints so after the first mile we decided to walk the remainder of the way.
The hills were big, the rain was cold, but we still had a wonderful time!!
It was slow, but there was no time limit, and we sure got our monies worth!!!
