"Skinny"

Due to a financial bump in the road, I have added a part time job to my schedule, bringing my work load to 60 hours a week. Im tired, and find myself a bit emotional at times. But, so far I havent moved into the grumpy stage. (dont ask my husband, he may disagree with me)

Anyway, I want to introduce you to my part time job. I LOVE IT!
I work with tons of fruits, vegetables, specialty foods, and CANDY!!!!

When the cash registers are a slow, we tie bags of candy, like this one. Yes, that is a one pound bag of  chocolate double dipped peanuts. YUM!!  One evening I was tying these delicious goodies and a woman who looked to be around 80 asked me how I could work in a place with so much candy and stay so skinny? I got tears in my eyes, and she started apologizing. I stopped her mid "Im so sorry". and told her how she made my day!! Her daughter, who was standing behind her, and about 50 lbs overweight, looked mortified. I went on to explain that over the last two years, I have worked very hard to lose 80 lbs, and how her skinny comment totally made my day. THEN, the daughter started with tears. She said shes been trying to lose weight and tried diets, and vomiting, and pills, and just couldnt keep it off.

Perfect time to share my ups and downs and 'how I did its' but it was my way and may not work for you'.

Birthday 5K

Que Creek 5K

Thanks to a detour due to the bridge being out, we got lost several times trying to figure out how to get around the lake. This time the GARMIN DID NOT help!!! She kept taking us in circles to get us back to bridge!! We made it to the race just in time for me to run to grab our packets while the others used the porta pots.

This year the race had a new course, thanks to that bridge that caused the detour. It was more downhill this year. I was hoping for a 35.5....
My watch froze and no matter what I did, it would not reset!!! SO, I was running naked!!

Amber was home for the weekend and she ran with me. Well, more like ahead of me!!
The first half mile was a cluster of people. They had a record 1100 people sign up this year.

I jogged until I saw the mile two sign and realized we were going up a short hill. Took a short break and then I started running again. Down the hill around the corner and saw the finish line.  They handed us a water bottle and we could grab a banana and a bag of pretzels.

We were then bussed back to the start line where we were greeted with this wonderful ness!!!! I indulged (thats my friend, not me!) I inhaled my cinnamon roll!! It was my birthday treat!!

I was disappointed with my time. I was a minute slower this year than last year, but Im 15 lbs lighter.
