Lesson Learned!!!

Every morning as soon as I get up I fill my water bottle with ice and water.

Before I go to work, I drink one full bottle.

I refill it, and off to work I go. It holds 32 oz. but the first two bottles of the day only hold 24 oz of water because I use so much ice to start. My daily goal is to drink four bottles full. 24 + 24 + 32 + 32= 112 oz per day

Yesterday, as I was gathering my bags and purse, my phone rang and I walked out the door without my full water bottle. FAIL!!!!!!

We have cups at work and I of course I used them, but they are not near as big, so I had to refill it more often. It was a busy day and several times I tipped my cup and not a drop to be had. It was empty, but I couldnt leave my station for a refill. By the end of the work day (8PM) I only had 64 oz of water. 

I did manage to get my 100 oz in by 10PM. But I sure did have to get up several times during the night!!  LESSON LEARNED!! DO not forget the big water bottle!!! Im thinking next time I go to Walmart I need to buy another one and keep it at work!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday: 4.5 mile run.  Was trying for a 10K for Grandmas Virtual 10K. But last Saturday at Body Pump I stretched something, and it really started to hurt. I never know if I should push thru the pain, or if I should stop.....

It seems to be taking me forever to read my book. Its not that Im not enjoying it, Its that everytime I sit down to enjoy it, my eyes get heavy and I fall asleep.

I love that so many have removed that horrible word verification. It makes it so much easier to comment!!! I hated typing a wonderful encouraging miraculous peice of literature comment, just to give up after three trys and still getting it wrong, and then just giving up.

UpintheCosmos is getting ready for more juicing this week. She has given me the gumption to try it. I had been given a juicer about 6 months ago, but didnt know what to combine, or how to count it in my fitness pal. And my mind tells me, if I cant do it right, dont even try. (YEAH Im working on that mindset!!!)  Well Saturday, I pulled it out and grabbed an apple, pear, and plum, and threw it together. It wasnt to bad!! SO, now I have it sitting on my counter, (rather than stored away in the box) and I plan on using it this week. I cant wait to get some recipes!!! and use some veggies. When I did a challenge with Thrice Blessed, I won a 15. gift card to Amazon. I ordered this book THe Juice Bible and cant wait to see what it holds.

10K FAIL!

Today was my attempt to run the 10K for Grandmas Birthday.  I made it to a little over 3 miles and I pulled something in my leg. I hobbled on for another mile, but I only made it to 4.45...... Grandmas favorite color is pink. So after my shower I grabbed my pink recovery socks, and it FEELS SO GOOD!!!
I feel like Im so slow, and always behind!! I wanna run with the pack!!! I feel like that person way in the back, always playing catchup!!
Even tho I didnt make it to the whole 6.2 miles, I still need to provide some recovery to my body. I used smoothies that I make at home.

Gather all the ingredients
In the past I used unsweetend Soy milk.  Ive recently moved to unsweetened Almond Chocolate Milk. Its has a stronger chocolate taste.  I use Whey powder, Low Carb (or high protein) Yogurt, Frozen berries, bananas (I usually freeze them) A tablespoon of Peanut Butter, ice cubes and a blender.

And I LOVE peanut butter!! I keep thinking Ill try the PB2, but Im afraid I wont like it, and wasted the money.

The Yogurt picutred is from Kroger. I dont have it available locally, so my friend picks it up when she goes for her cancer checkups (over an hour away)


I make a weeks worth at a time.  I use  the smaller ones for shorter workouts and the bigger ones for longer runs, or more intense workouts. When I go to the gym, I grab one out of the freezer, and when Im finished its still creamy and a bit icey. YUM!!!!!!!!!

Midweek Update

This week has been full of excuses. Ive made horrible food choices. I had a peice of fried chicken, a piece of Gob cake, 5 Cups of Grapes IN ONE SITTING!!
AARRGGG. 
My daughter has challened me to 30 days of only water.  No Diet Coke, no Sobe lifewater, no hot chocolate, ONLY WATER...................Today was day one. I survived.

Plans are to run my 10K tomorrow. IF the rain holds out, Ill be outside YES!!! If not, Ill be in on the treamill. I did rearrage my living room so that the treadmill is in front of the TV. Not very pretty. BUT then neither is the fat that Im trying to get rid of.

Better choices, starting three hours ago!!!

My beautiful partner is struggling abit. I havent been the best at keeping in touch. I apologize Melanie!! I promise to try to do better!! I know she has spunk and gogetemness!! Shes signed up for lots of 5ks and rocks them.  We seem to be in a funk, and need to find the 'want to'. or a big motivational kick in the pants.

Grandma Lill

Livin the Fit Life is celebrating her Grandma Lills 95th birthday by hosting a Virtual 10K or Half Marathon. You pick the distance. Run between Feb 18th and 28th.
From her blog "Grandma Lill is turning 95 years old and it's time to celebrate! As you can tell from the picture above, she has a great sense of humor! She has lived in the same house for over 63 years. My Grandpa Les passed away in 1984 and she has lived alone since then. Up until last year she even mowed her own lawn with a push mower! I hope to be as healthy and able as she is at 95!"

Merry Christmas to me!

Its very rare that I openly talk about our finances!! Its a private problem, sometimes embarrasing. My husbands cancer six years ago, left us with lots of debt, and luxeries are not something we covet.  

Today I came home from donating blood (more on that later) and this was on my front porch.
It was heavy! (A very dear friend who has lost 70 lbs, asked me today if I could use some clothes.) I expected a few shirts and maybe a few pants. BUT......... LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!!
I threw it up on the couch and tore into it.OH glorious clothes!!!!

Some of them are still to small, but I know I can get into them by the end of summer! And some I can wear now. OH THANYOU Melissa!!!! I am so very very blessed!!!


Today was blood donation day! I made my appointment for 1PM so that I could do Body Pump and Body Combat early this morning, and still have time to rehydrate and get some food into me.
Today was very uneventful.. No queasies, no OUCH that hurt needle sticks, ate a WONDERFUL and drank a cup of grape juice. YUM!!!!!!!!  TO find a donation center for your area, check out the red cross website here.  If youve never given blood before, its a rather easy process.  You sign in, read the literature, and wait for them to call your name.  You then go behind the divider and a nice nurse will test your iron, BP, temperature, and pulse. She will ask you a bunch of screeening questions. You then move to the table (NOT ME!) and they clean your arm, stick you with a needle.  You pump your fist, and blood goes into the bag. AND THEN YOU GET TO EAT!!!

I did talk to my doctor (my boss!!) and he listened and checked etc.. and said I was fine. If it continued to get worse, I was to call him over the weekend. His 'prescription' drink lots of water!

My hands are swollen and my pants dont fit!!

Whats going on!?!?!?

I have been wearing my wedding band on my middle finger because it slides off my ring finger.   I woke up this morning and my ring was STUCK and very painful!!! It took lots of butter and cold water and 45 minutes of praying to whomever unsticks rings!!

After the lube job, I realized I was late for my car ride to the gym. I put on my gym shorts (YES, the ring fiasco was without shorts on!!) AND they were to tight!!! What in the world!! So I got out my handydandy tape measure. Thank you Mir for including waist measurements in the E to E Challenge.
AND the ()#U%&)#($U#)(U$#)( measure said 49 inches (tire one)  THATS 5 INCHES!!! What the heck!!!!

I dont have edema (swelling) in the legs, its only in my hands and my belly.

This is my food log for the last three days. Anyone with any suggestions?

Midweek Update

Its been a looonnnggg busy, full moon kind of week!!! The strange phone calls seem to come on full moon!! Patients call with the weirdest requests!! "Can I get a prescription for fingernail polish remover?"  SERIOUSLY!?!?!???! And what medical condition would you use that for?

This weekend is the run for Sherry.  You pick your own mileage!

Last week I increased my calories to 1400-1600 a day. I lost weight, but it made me so nervous!! On Tuesday I decided to drop back to 1200 again. It should be so simple! Calories in, calories burned.

I increased my weights during body pump this week, so my muscles were screaming on Wednesday. My 4 mile run, was cut short to 1.5!!

If I had to 'rate' this week, it would be fair.  Next time, strive for more!!!

This week 194.2 (-2.2) FINALLY!!!!! It has been going up and up. Last week I increased my calories. I was so scared!!!! I dont think Ill be able to eat this many every day, BUT, for this week, it did work.

On the bulletin board at the gym:  The key to optimizing your workout is to  provide the energy and building materials muscles need when they need them most.  It all begins immediately after your workout.  Timing is everything. Fact: If you dont replace the glycogen (stored sugars) that you burned during your workout within minutes of your last rep, your bodys metabolism begins to quickly slow down, cannobilizing its own muscles tissue for energy.  This is bad. Over time you will need to work out harder and harder to achieve the same results becauseyou will have less and less muscle to maintain healthy metabolism.

 In Brad Gansbergs 10K training program, I only have two weeks left!! Then I run a 10K. I hope I can do this outside!! Ive done a 10K on the treadmill, but Id love to try it outside!!! I have 34 of my 650 miles for 2012.

Mid week update

RunToTheFinish hosted the 30 day food tracking challenge for the month of January. I have tracked for many months, but Ive never sat down and evaluated my tracking.


What did I learn?
----- I eat to many carbs. I fell into daily 'alloted' on my fitness pal, but I think I need to decrease.
-----I eat 75% of my food aftr 5PM and about 50% after 7PM.
-----I now undereat when stressed.
-----I undereat when I have a very hard sweaty workout.
-----I OVEREAT when Im (TOMing)




Im still not losing weight. Some people suggested my calories were to low with the excersizing I was doing, so I increased to aprox 1400 this week. Scares me to go up!!!

Shut up and Run is hosting a virtual run in honor of Sherry.  Did you hear about her? She is the runner, mother, wife, math teacher, who went out on an early morning run, and never returned. Sat Feb 11th is dedicated to Sherry. Beth says, " My goal is to get the MOST love, momentum and energy moving in honor of Sherry. This run symbolizes the beginning if healing and honors a woman who was courageous, strong and loved by so many."

AND Joggermom is hosting a virtual marathon.  You dont have to run the whole thing in one day. You have the whole month of May to run.
