My daughter, the ellipical queen, showed me how to use it, and away I went. It wasnt near as bad as I remembered it. I found that I could go backwards much easier than forwards!! I lasted 20 minutes, and Im sure I will use it again!!!

Virtual Run

On Friday I did the 10K. I did OUTSIDE hills. So far all my hill training has been inside on the treadmill. The first hill was .54 miles and I did it at a 12.04 pace. I was elated!! My regualr pace is a 13.30.  I was exhausted and inhaling the pavement when I got to the top, but boy did that feel good!! Then every half mile or so there was another hill. None of them were as fast, but I did push myself. I slept like a log that night!!!  I will go outside from now on for my hills!!!

Saturday night my daughter went with me for the 5K. The first 1.5 miles are flat, then theres a BIG *#$#*)& hill. I conquered it back in April. Im amazed at how much easier it gets each time I climb it.  Thankyou Toni from runninglovingliving for hosting this virtual run!!

My kids!

This summer my son is working on his Senior Project for school.  He is organizing a team for the Epilepsy Fun Run/Walk  in Pittsburgh PA.  He is doing this in honor of his older sister, who was diagnosed with epilepsy in the fall of 1998.

At Christmas time he had a cookie bake sale. He raised over 200.00.  And spent 3 Saturdays in the kitchen, with his sisters help, rolling and icing and baking and dipping cookies.

This summer he sent letters to local businesses asking for sponsorship.
He would like to provide everyone on the team with a tshirt, but this means the Epilepsy Foundation will receive less money. I love his thought process!!

He has made his mommy proud!!

If you would like to donate to our team, click on the following link.

Todays Weight: 182.5  (+2.5)

Measurements: (update monthly)

This weeks challenge was to write EVERYTHING down that enters your mouth. This is a habit that I started when I first began my weight loss journey in 2010.  Last month for some reason, I stopped. I just quit. I guesstimated. This week was a wonderful refresher and a GREAT reminder why its so very important for me to track!!

Sunday:  1988
Monday:  1525
Tuesday: 1560
Wednesday:  1125
Thursday:  1042
Friday:  650
Saturday:  2929!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My goal is to stay  between 1200 and 1500 calories. The higher end when I do more cardio. The lower end on rest days. Im on My Fitness Pal at debsdailylife.  I added sugar and fiber to my list of things to track, along with the carbs, calories, protein, and fat.  Even though this weekly challenge is over, I will continue!!

Week 2 Challenge: 6 hours of excericse this week. I LOVE exercise, so I think this will be great week!! I have a calendar just for my excersize. On Thursday, my rest day (I work from 7AM to 9PM) I come up with a plan for the next week. Of course nothing is set in stone. Life happens. BUT it feels so good to cross the day off!! In July Ill be training for my next half marathon, so Ill fill in my training runs up thru October.

My daughter took my starting pictures yesterday:
This is the tank top I want to wear from my next half marathon. And I DONT want to see those stomach or back  rolls!!!

DA 5K/10K

SO many people!!!! Over 1900 registered.

I ran the 5K instead of the 10K because of the half marathon last weekend. Thi is me crossing the finish line. A PR 39.41.01.  The first mile was a hill. I DID NOT walk!! I think I would have made it up faster if I had, but I was determined that this year, I was NOT walking any portion of this race!!!

My daughter was a walker. She PRd with 47.56

My sons first 5K. He finished in 50.23

My husband wasnt able to join us this year. He has some knee problems that have kept him sidelined for a week. SO proud to have two of my kids join me in my love of moving!!

Last weeks goals:
Weight: Be in the 170s (please!!) Alas I was still at 181.0 this morning. BUT, it will come!! I know it will!!!
Exercise: I will do Body Pump and Yoga, and a light run every day. (streak baby!!!). I have a half marathon scheduled for Saturday. (I would LOVE to have a faster time)I impoved my time by 8 minutes. I did Body Pump and run intervals.
Nutrition: I have slacked in my tracking, Its a bit halfhearted and I know I dont write everything down anymore. So today I start doing it wholeheartedly!!! Tracked!!
NSV: I cant wait to see what this week brings my way! I turned my XLarge shirt in for a Large at the half marathon!!

And this week I hope to visit every blog of those still in the challenge!! I made it to everyone who linked up by Monday.

Thank you to Maren for hosting this Challenge!!

During this Challenge I lost 9 lbs.
I became much more aware of my Non Scale Victories.
The mini Challenges made me think!! I didnt post to all of them. Some of them were very personal, (to me) and contained information that I was not ready to share. I have them in drafts, and maybe some day I will have grown enough to share them opennly.
In week one, I learned that a Rutabago looks very different from an Eggplant.
I made some new friends!

Starting today I am taking part in several new Challenges.
Rochelle is hosting the Summer Sizzle Slimdown.
And Deanna is hosting a Walk/Run Challenge for the month of June.

Pictures: (My daughter will take them Wednesday night)

Weight 181.3
Week One Challenge:
Start tracking. ABSOLUTELY everything! I am on My Fitness Pal.
Everything that enters my mouth gets counted!!

My goal is 1200. UNLESS I do a long run, or more than one hour of intense excersize, then it will go up approximately 250 calories.

Deckers Creek Half Marathon.

Deckers Creek half marathon. Absolutely loved this race!! LOVED it!!
It was a point to point race. Almost all down hill. Very slow gradual down grade on crushed limestone and the last 3 miles on pavement.  We picked up our packets at 7AM and were loaded into buses and taken up a VERY CURVEY road to the start line. The registration was limited to 600 participants and it the start was in two waves. The start line had 12 portapots, (I saw lots of squats in the woods!!) and was a quarter mile down the trail.

It was cold this morning. Only 62 degrees when we were dropped at the start line. I didnt drop my sweatshirt off in the van because it was so cool!! I knew Id have to drop it at the start line. : (

We waited in the portapot line, and heard the first wave leave.  We had 15 minutes, only 12 pots, and 300 people. (OK, not quite that many in line)  As we were coming out of the pot, we heard the gun sound for the second wave, sprinted the quarter mile to the start, pushed my garmin, and we were off!!

I felt really good the first 6 miles. I was by myself pretty much the whole time, (being slow, and starting late kinda puts you at the tail end!)

During mile one there was a family of four that came up behind me. As they passed me the lady in PINK told the lady in YELLOW to  make sure that she doesnt finish behind 'her'. (referring to me). At mile three I came right up behind YELLOW lady, and she heard me, turned around and said, 'oh no, I gotta go, my family will be so disappointed.'  She did walk run intervals.  Every time I would be about 10 feet behind her, she would turn around, see me and run. I caught her again during mile 5. And she was almost crying. I told her that this was her race, and no matter what her family says, she needs to be proud!!

Mile 7. I caught the YELLOW lady and her dad, and sister. Yellow lady said, *#$&*#$& some not so nice words, and she tried to speed up. I kept my even pace, and soon passed them, and that was the last I saw of them!!!
So thankful that I didnt let them get into my head!! I didnt think, Im gonna show them, or get upset!! I wouldve worn myself out!
Mile 10ish my legs were really really hurting! I came to the 11 mile marker and my legs just stopped. I didnt even think stop, they just stopped. And I started to cry, I was so mad!! I wanted so bad to run the whole thing!! I played some mind games, beat myself up, and reminded myself that YOU CANT RUN AND cry at the same time!! I decided to walk mile 11, pull myself together and then run to the end. Thats when I met my angel!  I caught her while I was walking. She pulled her headphones off and started talking. We chatted, and I felt so much better. We talked about kids, jobs, work, friends.  We ran intervals. and decided when we saw the 13 mile marker we would sprint to the end. It was wonderful to have someone to finish with!! My pace!
My goal was to keep each mile under 13. Not sure what happened on mile 6, but otherwise I made my goal until I hit that aweful mile 11. I was hoping for a 2:45. BUT, I am not disappointed (well I was at first), but I took 8 minutes off my first Half Marathon.  I kept a very even pace (up to mile 11).
They had 7 water stops. So I made the decision to not carry water. (The first time Ive EVER done that) I think I have always carried it as a safety net. BUT, without my water, I wasnt able to carry my phone. I think I NEED want a spybelt!!

Afterwards we treated ourselves to a TCBY frozen yogurt. Peanut Butter with Reese Peanut Butter cups in it. I ate half of it, and started to feel sick, so I stopped.  BUT, the half I had was amazing!!!

AND nonscale victory!! My race shirt is a Large instead of a 2 XL like it would have been 6 months ago!! And according to the website the shirt is made of recycled cotton and plastic bottles. Cool!!

Foodie Pen Pal

This month I received my Foodie Pen Pal box from Kathleen at The Nut Case. She ran her first 5K at the beginning of the month.  I do not have a Trader Joes anywhere close to me, so I was excited to see the Peanut Butter YUM!!!! The Mango chips were gone within the first 24 hours!! I havent tried the Carrot Ginger soup yet, BUT, my daughter can hardly wait for me to open it!! A Kind bar was new to me as well. DELICIOUS!!!! Thankyou so very much to Kathleen for a wonderful box of amazing food!!!

Thankyou Kathleen!!

Would you like to participate in Foodie PenPals? Here are some basics, but click on over to Lindsays blog for specifics and details.

You send a box to someone, and someone else sends one to you. I have been pondering this for several months, I was so afraid of sending something someone wouldnt like, etc....... BUT, in February, I decided to take the plunge. SO MUCH FUN!!

On the 5th of the month you receive an email that tells you who you send your package to. It also includes their email so you can talk to them and find out if they have any allergies, or dislikes.
There are over 350 participants from all over the World. (IF youre in the US you only send to US, in Cananda only to Canada)

Then you go shopping, $15. maximum!! You can also send some of your own baked goods. Send your package to your pal by the 15th of the month, and on the 30th, you write a blog post to reveal your goodies.
