Virtual Run

GGGRRRRR UP again. A bit frustrating, but not depressing. Not sure whats wrong, But, Im not giving up, Keep plugging away!! It will come off!!

Book. Body for Life: Read quite a bit about the different Milestones we as women go thru and what happens to our body and metabolism during those times.  Reading that Im normal. A lot of women my age walk into a room, forget what they wanted, turn around and then 5 seconds later go back into the room because it came back to them.  Its like my brain is short circuiting. The other day I went to work, and one of my coworkers asked why I was wearing only one earring!!

Freeze Your Thorns

Today was the day for the Freeze Your Thorns off 5K.

I kinda cheated and did it inside on a treadmill at the gym so I didnt freeze anything off. I didnt take any pictures........ The studly college basketball player on my right probably wouldve laughed, And prim and proper, no sweat, hair in place mom on my left wouldve glared.  And then I wouldnt be able to show my face at the gym for a long time. (Can you tell Im still very self conscious!!)

Now bring on the prizes!! :)

I did a 3.5 mile yesterday, and this old fat woman isnt used to two runs on consecutive days. Thank goodness for my new compression socks! I can actually still walk this afternoon!!
I did a slower pace today, because I had Body Combat after the run. I was 2 minutes short of a PR. Ran it in 42.28

Run and a win

Thank you to Stephanie at Run for Fun for hosting a giveaway for Vitalsox.  If you dont follow her yet, click on over and take a look.  Go ahead, Ill wait. (just make sure you come back!)  I cant wait til I can buy one of her awesome shirts!!!  ANyway, back to the Trivitals I won a fushia pair.  Today after my virtual run  I put them one. THEY feel wonderful!!!  This is my first compression wear and Im sold!!!

Thats my recovery smoothie to the right of my foot.  Strawberry, 1/2 banana, 1/2 yogurt, TBS peanut butter, Spinach, whey powder, soy milk and some ice. YUM!!!

My right ankle has my bracelet made for me by my daughter. Black for my husbands melanoma, Purple for my daughters Epilepsy, and Orange for my best friends Leukemia.

Today I did my 3.5 mile run for Tonis birthday and blogaversery. Running, Loving, Living's virtual run. It was snowing so I whimped out and ran inside on my treadmill. Thankyou for hosting Toni!

Time was 48:35.

Midweek update

Seriously, what fat, overweight girl UNDEREATS!!!?!?!?!!

Yesterday, my stomach was all in knots.  It was the evening of our annual meeting at church and I had to give me annual report. All day I felt yucky in the stomach and could only FORCE myself to get in 790 calories.  

After the meeting and my presentation was finished, (sigh relief breathe) I came home to look for supper. NOW, it was 9PM, and I try so hard to not eat anything that late.  SO my quandry. undereat and end the day with 790 calories. Or eat and go to bed with food in my stomach. I argued with myself for 20 minutes, (now almost 930PM)

I went to bed without eating supper.

Now that my reports for church are finished, Im getting back on track.

Except for Wed, my calories are good.
Water is excellent.

Exercise: Has been nonexistent this week. ON Saturday Im running the Freeze Your Thorns Off virtual race.  Upinthecosmos will be running hers on Sat morning at 915AM, so Im going to try to do mine at the same time. I may have to start earlier because of my Body Combat class at 10AM.
Shes working thru a 5K program, and shes rocking it!!

E to E Update

Weight: 195.2  This is up 1 pound.  I dont know why... I did 'everything right'. Not stressing about it. But hoping next week is back down again!!

Exercise:  Still doing my Brad Gansberg 10K graduate program.  Im learning that I LOVE long runs. Im not much a fan of the training to go faster. (altho IM doing it anyway!!!)

In Julies run 650 Miles in 2012, I have 16 miles. (that seems low to me, But thats what my Daily Mile reports, so thats what Im going with.

Saturday: Body Combat, Running

I want to find a way to do some running on Monday Wed, and Thurs. Im NOT a morning person, BUT, I work 13 hrs those days, SO I need to figure out my getting up early!! And getting it done!!

My book:  Well, I wish I could say Ive been keeping up. BUT truth is, Ive openned it three times, and each time promptly fell asleep, only to wake with the lights off, and the book covering my face.  My excuse being: This week is the year end for our church. I have an 8 page financial report that was due on Saturday, and I had many late nights preparing for it. And then was audited on Friday.  So this report has taken all my free time!!!

Bloggy love: Visited and commented on all challengers last week. Some are struggling, and I wish I could give you each a virtual ((((hug)))).  I dont like to see people struggle. Especially when it revolves around emotions!!

And my amazing buddy Up in the Cosmos. She tracks at My fitness pal, and is a great encourager!! She has tracked for 140 days in a row!! Great inspiration!!!

Midweek Update

Yesterday my husband called and told me that the reason the tires on the van were leaking was because

the cords of the tires were sticking out  thru the rubber. DANGEROUS!!!  I knew we needed new tires, but being the tightwad  daredevil that I am, I thot I could make them stretch a bit further. ANd with the mild winter, I was hoping to wait til spring.

Tires came in today so my husband took the van with him to work (a Chevy dealer garage)

So about 5PM he calls to tell me that theres another problem. I see dollar bills flying out the window.  Apparently the water pump is bad an needs replaced too.

Back up to 7AM this morning. I showered, dressed for work, and then I went to get the car keys. They were NOT hanging on the 'key hangy uppy place'.  I looked on the table, the counter, his dresser.  NO KEYS!! I tried to send out an SOS text to himto find out where he laid them. BUT the shop is a huge peice of steel and he has crappy service.

SO at 7AM in 5degree snowing I walked the 1/2 mile work. THANK goodness I dont live in Julies neck of the woods where it was 25 BELOW 0 today!! Now thats cold!!

Im having a good week. Getting in my water, following my calories. Ive been staying off the scale. (New for me!)  Im addicted to my scale!

I did find a love for yogurt covered peanuts. YUM!!! Thankfully that bag is gone!!

E to E update

This week I decided I wanted to get a handle on more veggies!! Thankyou to everyone who replied and gave me ideas. I cant wait to try them.  And if you have more recipes or ideas of ways to get them in, please share!!!
I tried a 'new to me' exercise: BODY COMBAT,  I LOVED IT!!!  I felt uncomfortable at first. Fighting, hurting, kicking, is SO NOT ME!!! But when I stopped thinking of it as combat, and instead thinking of exercise, it was so much easier!!!

Body Combat

Today I tried Body Combat 50 by Les Mils. 
Kick, Punch, Great Cardio workout.
We were 3/4 of the way through and one of the girls had burned 700 calories. (And she was a skinny little woman, so Im sure I burned much more!!! )

Fruits and Veggies

I need some help/ideas/recipes.

I HATE vegetables!! (except corn and Ive been told many times, corn does not count!!

So I need to know how to prepare veggies. I DONT like soggy!!! I prefer crisp. 
How do you flavor?
How do you grill?
How do you do it?

Im having a much better time trying fruits!! (Ive been throwing em into my post workout smoothies for the most part).  And having an orange or an apple every day for lunch.

For these two challenges, I ran 9 miles this week.
Still rather slow, but in my 70 min long run on Sat I had a 5K PR...

Water: 75 oz every day.

In my Body for Life book, she talks quite a bit about how women and men are different.  We need different plans. They also pledge to me, that if Im ready to make changes, they will help me reach my optimal body. (not a models body, but my optimal body)  They also asked me to make a pledge.  To take time for me... We as women will do many things for other, boyfriends, kids, churches, work, but neglect ourselves.  Just do it! Realize I must work to get it done, its not a free gift, I have to do the work.
My Challenge buddy is UpInTheCosmos ,  She is an amazingly strong woman who is dedicated to her weight loss.  We are involved in a lot of the same challenges and programs.

Two down, 42 to go

Today (Friday)  I can cross of #35 on my goal list for this year.  I called yesterday to schedule my mammogram, and she said, 'We have a cancellation tomorrow morning at 8:30AM."  I took it!!!

Have your boobs checked women!!! Check with your insurance to see how often they will cover a screening mammogram. Most are once a year. Some are every two years.  Dont have insurance???? Call the NCI at 1–800–4–CANCER or 1–800–422–6237 to see if you can have a free mammo!!  Sometimes local hospitals offer free mammos to those with not insurance. Call around, check it out!!  Here is the National Cancers website about mammograms.

And this morning while I was there, I got another compliment! When the tech called me back, she kept looking at me. She asked me to repeat my name twice, (she said she was just verifying it to make sure) In between the squishing and smashing, and repositioning, she kept looking at my face. She was chattering around, and I could tell she really wanted to say something....

She left to go check for shadows on the imaging etc... When she came back she looked at me again, and said, I know whats different, youve lost weight! And then she laughed. She said, she asked me to repeat my name and Date of Birth twice because she didnt think it was really me. But she couldnt imagine why someone would get a mammogram for someone else.
I thanked her, and then said, in Debby fashion, 'Yes, but the sad thing is, that I had that much weight to lose in the first place."  She said, 'Youre right, BUT, you cant change the past, and youre doing something about your future! Thats whats important"

And the second thing she said to me. "Youve lost weight girl!!" And I smiled and thanked her!!
Out of all the thousands of people she sees every year, she remembered me! How amazing is that!! Then she openned my chart and we proceeded with the 'exam'

I have a friend who asked me to sign up for a 1/2 marathon with her. Its the beginning of May. Do it? No? AAAHHHH The decision!!!

For my E2E midweek update:

Weight: I dont know! Im afraid its up, so Im avoiding the scale!  I did fine over the holidays, but now!! I have a sweet tooth craving like I havent had in a very long time!!! Mauren I think we need another Sweet Tooth Challenge!!

Book: Body for Life for Women.  Jen at Body for Life has been doing the 12 week challenge and has inspired me to 'check it out'. (anyone know if Jens doing ok?) 
Ive only read chapter one. SO far she talks about women and men being so very different. That this journey as being so much more than that number on the scale. This is a Mind, Mouth, and Muscle journey.
She also uses lots of 'stories' from many women she has helped.  Today I read, When I didnt control my anger and resentment, Id regain a few pounds or my progress would stall.   HMMM!! so true!! When I feel stress creeping in, or frustration taking over. The weight goes on, whether its because I shove food in my mouth, or because of stress that is changing my 'makeup'.
